It’s summer, we all want ice-cream. Our skinny jeans tell us not to do it. Our tight fitting t-shirts cry out for help every time we reach out for that naughty little treat. Our body fat percentage is still not what it should be. It probably will never be what it should be. That beach body you were praying for in winter is just not coming.
So you continue to starve yourself.
Fear not humans.
You can make your ice-cream and eat it too. Yes, it’s a true story. This delicious mixture of frozen bananas and chocolate whey protein powder is so delicious, yet ever so kind and gentle on your waist line.
Thank me by posting pictures of you, stuffing your face, with this delicious and very healthy, almost guilt free treat. I say almost guilt free on the basis that you don’t have 1 million servings in one week.
What you will need:
- 2 bananas sliced and frozen for at least 3 hours
- 1 single serving of chocolate flavoured whey protein powder
- A handful of nuts of your choice, the best is to use hazel nuts. I only had pecans and almonds which are just great too
- About a table spoon of cocoa nibs for extra crunch (optional)
For a vegan option, use a plant based protein powder or omit altogether. Flavour your banana ice cream by using vanilla bean paste, a touch of cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey.
What to do:
Place the frozen bananas and protein whey powder into a food processor. Blend until a smooth, mousse like consistency is formed. You will need to use a spatula to push the mixture back into the food processor. Don’t give up at this point, keep blending. You want the end result to be light and fluffy. Like soft serve.
Once it reaches a soft serve consistency add the chopped nuts and pulse until well blended, finally add the cocoa nibs for that extra crunch.
You now have two options, indulge in this amazing little treat right away or freeze for at least one hour. Additional freezing will produce a great ice-cream. No one will know it’s made of banana and chocolate whey.
